Our first upgrade for 2005 is a new Dell computer for the Rec. room. It features a CD Burner, a DVD burner, 3 Gig Pentium, !7 inch flat panel display, and some kewl software including” Word” I’ve always had great luck with Dell products, but as an extra precaution I purchased Dell’s best 4 year warrantee package which includes 24/7 technical phone support and if necessary “in home” service by a technician. I phoned Dell to make certain they would cover our area. I guess if it breaks someone will have a nice ride down Rt. 12 . A high speed cable connection is going to be installed next Monday along with a wireless router. You can bring your laptop and email your buds from the tiki bar or your bedroom. Please note: you will need a “B” or “G” wireless card for your laptop The next time you hear from me I’ll be at “The Beagle” . Ciao for now !
A heart felt thank you to our guests for staying at “The Beagle” this year. It was fun hearing from many of you and the great pictures were surely appreciated. Our advanced booking for 2005 set a record for the Hatteras Realty rental program. Upgrades for 2005 are in the planning stage and as always you will be kept posted. We will be heading down on November 13th for a few weeks including a mega family Thanksgiving. I’m reading this to Sandy and she is reminding me about the day before last thanksgiving when she discovered I had forgotten to thaw out our beautiful 25# Butterball turkey. Ever resourceful, I filled the upstairs Jacuzzi with cold water and turned the jets on high. In he went! Now that was a happy Turkey. Anyway, that “bad boy” thawed out in time to grace our table Thanksgiving afternoon.
We spent a few days in Hatteras last week. “Beagle” was booked but we did get a chance to spend some time there on change over day. We replaced our charcoal grill with a new one and performed some routine maintenance. We are very pleased with how she looked. Our house keepers report that our guests have been great. The rebooking and advanced bookings for 2005 are setting records. We are in week 21 of the 2004 season and 19 of those weeks have already been booked for 2005. We sincerely appreciate this. Drop us an Email if you get a chance.
Sandy, Bailey and I are in Connecticut but Hatteras is always on our minds. We have spoken to many of our guests and we thank you for all the compliments. As an amateur chef I can always tell when someone likes what I put on the table because they go back for second helpings. Sometimes thirds or fourths. “The Beagle” is 13 weeks into the rental season for 2004 and we have 11 of these weeks already booked for 2005. Again thank you. Hey………… if any of you have pictures of your stay we would sure love to publish them on this site.
The rental season for “The Beagle” has begun. Our first guests arrived on Saturday. We thank all of our returning friends and hope we can make some new friends this year. And what a year!!. We took the week of May 22 for ourselves and growing contingent of our buds. But aside from that week, we are completely booked until the last week of October. Again, Thank you.
We would love to hear from you. Your comments, suggestions and pictures are always appreciated.
We replaced our 50 inch Pioneer TV with a 57 inch Sony wide screen HDTV coupled with a progressive scan DVD player. I’m to old to use the word “awesome” but I’m going to. It’s nothing but awesome. The detail and clarity are close to what one would see at a movie theater. Crank up the sound and get some popcorn. (Please remember that as Beagle by the Sea Guests you are entitled to complementary DVDs, Tapes and games at Video Village.
Last summer we had a gaggle of people here one night for dinner. We love our kitchen but found that many people had to crowd around the cook top to feed our hungry crew. The solution was to add an additional cook top. We chose a 48 inch gas Jenn-Air with four burners and a grill. Our good friends Keith and Dave did a wonderful installation job, replete with the ductwork for the downdraft exhaust system
As I sit here “goldbricking” on this computer Sandy is busy making cornices for the kitchen. Her other projects should be finished in about a week. I’ll publish some new pictures soon
Spring is going to be here before you know it. We have planned some great upgrades and will post them here with pictures when they are implemented. As previously noted we were quite “lucky” during Isabel. In fact, we had guests in our home the day after the area re- opened this fall. We are going to be in N.C. for the month of March. You may rest assured “Beagle” will be 100% this spring.
One of the last things anyone wants to do after a long drive is make beds . In 2004 you won’t have to when you stay at “The Beagle” Beds will be made and towels hung before you arrive.
A complementary midweek “spruce up” (garbage taken out, floors swept and vacuumed ect.) will be performed by Hatteras Realty on Wednesdays. We are one of the few homes to offer this service without charge and hope it adds some extra fun time for you and your family.
Last year we started a policy of phoning the house at about 6 to 7 PM on check-in day. We want to make sure everything is to your liking. Also if there are any questions about the operation of appliances, sound systems ect. we can help you out. Our philosophy is that although Hatteras Realty is our agent ( and they sure do a great Job) you are guests of our home and we feel a personal responsibility to you. Also If you need us we are available by phone throughout your stay. 203 375 1266
I am frequently asked . “How crowded are the beaches?”
This pic was taken on July 8th 2003 at about 2 pm. It was a pretty day in the mid 80′s.
